Our Management Team
Donna joined Horizons Trust as Manager in 2018. Donna is committed to creating inclusive, quality services and developing a professional and supportive staff team. She values continuous improvement, high quality service provision and strong stakeholder engagement.
Donna has extensive management experience in the Health and Disability sector across Community, NGO and Charitable Organisations. She holds a double major Bachelor in Arts (B.A.) in Psychology and Education, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning. Away from work, Donna enjoys a close-knit family and friend network and has an active lifestyle that includes the gym and learning to play golf.
Barbara is Operations Manager with Horizons, having joined the Trust in 2012 as a Community Support Worker. Barbara is passionate about the people she supports and strives to ensure quality service delivery to our clients, so that their time at Horizons is both fulfilling and fun.
Barbara is originally from Scotland and has worked in a variety of services in the UK, Republic of Ireland and Aotearoa New Zealand. Barbara has over 25 years’ experience working within the disability and mental health sectors. Barbara enjoys cooking, music, travelling and loves to go home to Scotland to visit Whānau and friends.
David joined the Horizons team in 2020 and is the current Chair of the Board. David has over 25 years of governance and volunteering experience and is passionate about the work of the Trust, regularly interacting with our clients and supporting management and the staff team. His approach seeks to bring the Trusts strategies and plans to life, with a focus on growing and improving the services that we offer to our clients, ensuring they are engaged, included and having fun.
David is originally from the UK and has worked in both the US and Aotearoa New Zealand. Alongside his leadership of the Trust he is actively engaged in the governance of another local NGO and provides business mentoring. Other interests include golfing, biking, and exploring the wonderful New Zealand outdoors.
Martin is a Chartered Accountant whose current role specializes in the audit of entities in the not-for-profit sector. Martin has been a Board member of Horizons Trust for over 10 years, as a Trustee, a Chairperson and most recently as Treasurer. His focus at the Trust is the maintenance of good financial management, continually developing processes and the controls environment to support and ensure the financial stability of the Trust.
Martin moved to Aotearoa New Zealand in 2010 from the UK, where he held the position of Financial Director with a large events hospitality company. Outside of work and his governance responsibilities Martin has a passion for landscape photography, which has led to international sale and publication of his images.
Madi is a Fundraising professional, currently working with the Tourette’s Association and joined the Trust as a Board member in 2020. Madi is a proud Cantabrian from Christchurch and is passionate about creating inclusive communities for all. During her time at University Madi worked as a Support Worker for five years, which sparked her interest in the disability sector. Since graduating has been involved in fundraising and grant investment and allocation, having worked as an Advisor for the Rata Foundation and Ministry of Environment.
Jacqui joined the Horizons Board in 2021 and her particular focus for the Trust is the enhancement of staff engagement and wellbeing. Jacqui is a business owner and brings specialist knowledge in Human Resources.
Jacqui has over 17 years’ experience working across both public and private sectors, in a range of settings. She has a proven track record in business transformation, employment relations, talent management and succession planning. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Victoria University, majoring in Human Resources Management and Marketing. Jacqui enjoys all things active and family, from biking to hiking and skiing around beautiful parts of Aotearoa New Zealand.
Salma is a marketing, communications, ICT and event management specialist, supporting clients and organisations to deliver their goals on a range of governance, management and operational matters. Salma joined the Board in 2021, having previously worked alongside the management team and Board in a contracted consultant capacity.
Salma is originally from the UK, moving to Aotearoa New Zealand in 2017. She has previously worked across Europe, US and the Middle East. Salma brings over 20 years’ experience of events management, communications and marketing management, working across NGO, NFP and corporate sectors. When not working she enjoys travel, the outdoors and spending time with family.
Andrew is a Registered Nurse and Midwife, who joined the Horizons Board in 2020. Andrew brings a wealth of experience and skills to the Trust, including operational and clinical practice, quality management and project management.
Andrew has worked in surgical and theatre settings prior to coming to Aotearoa. Since his arrival in NZ he has worked within Aged Care and DHB settings, as a practitioner and senior manager, with over 10 years’ experience as an Operational Manager, overseeing design, commissioning and management of services.
