Donna Rainbird

Donna joined Horizons Trust as Manager in 2018. Donna is committed to creating inclusive, quality services and developing a professional and supportive staff team. She values continuous improvement, high quality service provision and strong stakeholder engagement.

Donna has extensive management experience in the Health and Disability sector across Community, NGO and Charitable Organisations. She holds a double major Bachelor in Arts (B.A.) in Psychology and Education, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning. Away from work, Donna enjoys a close-knit family and friend network and has an active lifestyle that includes the gym and learning to play golf.

Barbara Thomson

Barbara is Operations Manager with Horizons, having joined the Trust in 2012 as a Community Support Worker. Barbara is passionate about the people she supports and strives to ensure quality service delivery to our clients, so that their time at Horizons is both fulfilling and fun.

Barbara is originally from Scotland and has worked in a variety of services in the UK, Republic of Ireland and Aotearoa New Zealand. Barbara has over 25 years’ experience working within the disability and mental health sectors. Barbara enjoys cooking, music, travelling and loves to go home to Scotland to visit Whānau and friends.

Martin Davies

Martin is a Chartered Accountant whose current role specializes in the audit of entities in the not-for-profit sector. Martin has been a Board member of Horizons Trust for over 10 years, as a Trustee, a Chairperson and most recently as Treasurer. His focus at the Trust is the maintenance of good financial management, continually developing processes and the controls environment to support and ensure the financial stability of the Trust.

Martin moved to Aotearoa New Zealand in 2010 from the UK, where he held the position of Financial Director with a large events hospitality company. Outside of work and his governance responsibilities Martin has a passion for landscape photography, which has led to international sale and publication of his images.

Regan Hines

Regan Hines is a seasoned marketing and fundraising professional, whose extensive experience in the non-profit sector has been shaped by a passion for community enhancement and support for vulnerable people. Currently working on an MBA, Regan brings a diverse perspective to his work, coupled with a steadfast commitment to fostering collaborations between businesses and communities for mutually beneficial outcomes.

Beyond his career, Regan is an avid history enthusiast and loves spending time with his greyhound – Bryton.

Salma Rossell

Salma is a marketing, communications, ICT and event management specialist, supporting clients and organisations to deliver their goals on a range of governance, management and operational matters. Salma joined the Board in 2021, having previously worked alongside the management team and Board in a contracted consultant capacity.

Salma is originally from the UK, moving to Aotearoa New Zealand in 2017. She has previously worked across Europe, US and the Middle East.  Salma brings over 20 years’ experience of events management, communications and marketing management, working across NGO, NFP and corporate sectors. When not working she enjoys travel, the outdoors and spending time with family.

Nathan Chicken

Nathan brings experience in, education, financial services, business, HR and marketing. Nathan, although currently a lecturer is a firm believer that culture, people and community are the foundations to building a strong and effective business.

Nathan’s interests are within the education, health and wellbeing sector, while his passion is to help people and support them to not only grow, but to also help grow others.

Hayley Begg

Hayley has enjoyed a diverse career to date with experience in business management, strategy and operations. She now specialises in People and Culture with a special interest in diversity, equity and inclusion. Hayley has spent a lot of her professional career reporting to boards and working alongside them, this developed a strong interest in governance. Hayley is deeply passionate about the trusts kaupapa and using her expertise to assist in its success

Hayley is whanau focussed, a regular 6am gym goer and keen home chef outside of mahi. She is currently studying through Te Wānanga o Aotearoa and working towards her professional accreditations.
